Dear Organizer,
I’m Li Hua from Class 3. I’d like to suggest an activity for the International Cultural Week. I recommend the intangible cultural heritage of shadow puppet play. It is a traditional form of art with a long history. The actors use light and shadows to tell stories.
It is worth experiencing because this art form is one of the oldest storytelling methods. Through shadow puppetry, we can learn about ancient stories. Besides, it can connect us with different cultures. Experiencing shadow puppet play helps us understand history and culture.
Here is my design for the activity. First, we can invite an experienced master to give a lecture and performance. Then, students can have a hands-on experience of making their own shadow puppets and performing simple shows. This will allow them to have a deeper understanding and appreciation of this art form.
I believe this could help students better understand Chinese culture. Thank you for considering my program. I look forward to your reply!2024学年第二学期八年级期中英语听力.mp3

Jenny finished playing the last few pieces of music and bowed to the animals on her bed. “I just hope I can play it well at the concert”. In just an hour she would be playing the violin onstage for the first time, and the thought made her nervous.
She looked around the room at the bear, lion, money and other animals that lined her bed and shelves. “I wish you could all come with me,” she sighed. She gave them one last look and went to join her parents in the car.
“Do I have to play in the concert ” asked Jenny as she climbed into the back seat.
“Is my favorite first-grader getting nervous ” her dad asked, smiling.
Jenny didn’t answer. She was trying to picture what it would be like to play in front of those people.
“You will be fine. The first time is always the hardest. ” said Mom.
When they arrived, Jenny headed backstage. She could see that all the seats were filled, with many people standing in back.
Nervously she sat with the other students onstage. She held her breath as the curtains started to open and her teacher picked up the microphone to begin the program. One by one the students played their pieces of music. Finally Jenny heard the teacher announced, “Our last student tonight will be Jenny, who will play Bach’s Minuet in G Major.”
She put her violin under her chin, but she couldn’t remember even her first note(音符). Her eyes were filled with tears. She closed them, hoping to hold back the tears. Strangely, it looked as if all the people had changed into animals. She could see the Leopard, Giraffe and Zebra. She felt like laughing. More relaxed, she remembered her piece. As she played, she looked out at the audience and some of the animals changed into people. But she was not nervous any more. The audience looked friendly now.

Yang Xiuying, 76, sits at a wooden loom(织布机). As her fingers pass the shuttle back and forth through the cotton threads, the old machine comes to life. Ever since she was a young girl, Yang has been making indigo(靛蓝的) cloth. “You can never buy this type of handmade cloth at the market," she says.
For the Dong people(侗族) in Guizhou, it is a long tradition to make indigo cloth. The skill has been passed down from mother to daughter over generations. Nearly every family makes its own cloth.
This traditional skill, unfortunately, is now facing danger. Young people show little interest in it. Some of them have moved to big cities to find better jobs. Local officials are trying to change young people' s attitude. One program has set up several cloth-making factories in Guizhou. After learning how to make indigo cloth, young Dong people can now find jobs easily. They can also work closer to home.
Traditionally, the Dong people consider indigo cloth as important as rice. Many Dong women spend long hours making the cloth. They rise and start working very early in the morning. To make the cloth shiny, it must be rubbed and beaten hard. The noise of cloth being beaten often wakes the whole village up. The cloth has to be put in the dye(染料) over many times to get the rich color. The process of coloring usually takes two weeks.

Do your eyes jump a few times a second over a period of time A jumping eye can happen to anybody at any time. There are several reasons for a jumping eye. Let’s have a look at it!
Tiredness Not getting enough sleep or working for too long without rest may cause our eyes to complain. Scientists aren’t sure why, but they’ve found that getting more rest will make our eyes feel better. Remember not to stay up late.
Dry eyes More and more people work office jobs that require a lot of sitting and staring at a computer screen. This unhealthy way of life can lead to dry eye syndrome (DES干眼症). When our eyes are too dry, they can’t help jumping to keep them wet. To stay away from DES, use eye drops if you use the computer for more than seven hours a day and make sure to look away from the screen once every 20 minutes.
Stress (压力) This is the number-one reason for a jumping eye. It does harm to our eyes if it lasts for too long. When we’ re under a lot of stress, the body gives out stress hormones (荷尔蒙) which leads to a “fight or flight” response (回应). To solve the problem, we can see our friends or relax ourselves in order to reduce the stress that might lead to jumping eyes.

B.By starting with a question.
C.By using an interesting fact.
D.By telling a story.

A.It talks about the importance of getting enough sleep.
B.It introduces the number-one reason for a jumping eye.
C.It explains three reasons why we have jumping eyes.
D.It introduces some useful ways to reduce the stress.

Art has always been a reflection of human creativity and imagination. With the development of artificial intelligence (AI), the world of art is changing. AI painting is changing the way we create and appreciate art.
People use computer programs to create artwork online which is called AI painting. These programs are trained on large databases of existing artwork, sketches, and photographs.
One of the key advantages of AI painting is its ability to produce artwork at a much faster pace than a human artist. While it may take a human artist hours or even days to complete a painting, an AI can create a similar piece in just a few minutes. Another advantage of AI painting is its ability to create artwork that is difficult or impossible for humans to produce. For example, some programs can turn 2D images into 3D images. Additionally, AI can be used to create artwork that combines various styles, leading to special pieces that would be challenging for a human artist to create alone.
However, there are also worries about the influence of AI on the art world. Some people argue that AI artwork is short of the emotional depth of human-created art. They believe that art is not just about creating pleasing images but also about expressing human experiences and feelings. Others worry that the widespread use of AI in art could lead to the same styles.
In conclusion, AI painting is redefining the world of art. It is a good tool for artists to explore new ideas. As we continue to explore this exciting new trend, it will be fascinating to see how AI painting develops and shapes the future of art.
47.Why is the world of art changing
A.Because AI makes art more traditional.
B.Because AI changes how art is made and experienced.
C.Because AI reduces the need for artists.
D.Because AI makes art more expensive.
48.What’s the worry of people about AI art
A. It can’t mix different art styles.
B. It is too difficult and expensive for people to produce.
C. It can’t show the deep feelings of the art.
D. Only a few people can enjoy the AI art.
49.What is the author’s attitude towards AI painting
A.It has more disadvantages than advantages.
B.Everyone should use it to produce artwork.
C.It will replace human-created art in the future.
D.Artists can use it as a tool to explore new possibilities.
50.What is the structure of the passage

From primary school to higher education, AR(增强现实,虚拟现实的增强版) Apps and devices(设备) are now available for use as teaching tools. Using AR can help students understand the subjects better. It is a success that teachers only dreamed of in the past. 51
Here is one of the greatest advantages of using AR in education. 52 . Science no longer needs to be taught using 2D pictures and boring models, which may be less interesting for young learners. And it allows them to learn more independently. Besides, AR is also useful for other subjects, such as geography and history.
People who support the use of AR in education also point out its usefulness for schools in mountain areas. 53 Soon, with the help of AR technology, students around the world may be able to “visit” these places.
54 They think students are paying more attention to the 3D exhibition instead of the content of the lesson. But supporters think students will be less interested in the difference between AR and traditional education once they get used to it.
All in all, it is clear that the use of AR technology by educators will be a positive development for all students. 55 In this way, we can learn about its full potential and develop it further.
A. However, others have different opinions.
B. We should accept such a new technology and make full use of it.
C. As a result, the use of AR in education can be a positive development.
D. Students there hardly have chances to go to museums or science shows.
