With the development of science and technology, information security (安全) is becoming
more and more important. There are many ways to unlock the phone. Here are four students’
opinions.
Student A
The fingerprint unlock is my pared with numeric passwords, it can help me
unlock my phone more quickly. I think the pattern unlock is not safe. When you’re unlocking your
phone, other people might see the pattern and memorize (记住) it. Furthermore, it’s too easy for
thieves to break the code.
Student B
My favorite is the fingerprint unlock. Everyone’s fingerprint is unique. So I think that’s safer.
Some people like to use numbers as their passwords. They often use special numbers, such as birth
dates and telephone numbers. I think this is extremely unsafe.
Student C
I think using fingerprints to unlock smartphones is the least secure (可 靠 的 ) because
fingerprints can be copied using some kinds of technology. I prefer the face unlock. Other people
cannot unlock your phone unless you allow them to.
Student D
I prefer the fingerprint unlock, as no two fingerprints in the world are the same. I think the
least secure method is the pattern unlock because too many people use patterns shaped like “Z”,
“L”, or “W”, which are easy to figure out. In the future, I guess there might be a voice unlock. I’ve
heard that everyone has a unique voice. When you speak, your phone will recognize your voice
and unlock itself.
11. Which of the following is pattern unlock
A. B. C. D.
12. How many students prefer the fingerprint unlock
A.One. B.Two. C.Three. D.Four.
13. Why does Student D think the voice unlock is safe
A.Because it frees people’s hands.
B.Because everyone’s voice is unique.
C.Because people can easily change their voices.
D.Because you don’t need to worry about forgetting your password.

Ne Zha 2: The Sea’s Fury, an animated (动画的) movie based on old Chinese stories, has
become popular since it came out on January 29, 2025. With the support from fans in China and
初三英语 第 3 页 共 8 页
abroad, Ne Zha 2: The Sea’s Fury—one of China’s most successful movies—is now the world’
s top-earning animated film ever.
Ne Zha 2: The Sea’s Fury isn’t just a beautiful movie with exciting fights and magical
animals. It also mixes ideas from Chinese philosophy (哲 学 ) like Buddhism, Daoism and
Confucianism. This special mix of traditional Chinese culture makes it different from other hero
movies in the East or West. The film talks about deep cultural and life questions, using modern
animation technologies to show Chinese history and values in a way few movies do.
One key theme in Ne Zha 2: The Sea’s Fury is how it explores good and bad. The movie
shows these aren’t fixed but depend on people’s choices. Ne Zha, born from a “Demon Pill,” is
first seen as bad, but he chooses to do good things. This shows that even people who are
misunderstood can be heroes. Ao Bing, the dragon prince, also fights his destiny (命运) but makes
good choices in the end. The film conveys (传达) to us that your action is—not your destiny—
shape who you are.
Ne Zha’s story connects with people everywhere. His journey to find himself makes
audiences think about their own lives. A professor, Sabrina QiongYu, says the movie’s ideas
match modern problems: It questions old rules and power, shows family love and friendship, and
talks about finding who you are. It’s like encouraging “chicken soup for the soul” in hard times.
14. What makes Ne Zha 2: The Sea’s Fury a special hero movie
A.It has no fighting scenes.
B.It talks about deep questions in life.
C.It uses the latest animation technologies.
D.It includes rich traditional Chinese thought.
15. According to the movie, what decides whether a person is good or bad
A.Their family rules. B.Their life experience.
C.Their birth and destiny. D.Their choices and actions.
16. Why does Ne Zha’s story connect with people worldwide
A.It shows traditional Chinese values.
B.It encourages people to be confident.
C.It provides emotional support in hard times.
D.It is based on well-known old Chinese stories.
17. In which part of a newspaper can you probably read the text
A.Culture B.Science. C.History. D.Travel.

A long time ago, the world was very cold. Ice covered most of the land. This cold time lasted
millions of years and was called an ice age. The last ice age ended around 10, 000 years ago. The
Earth slowly warmed up and much of the ice melted (融化).
Sometimes, a big chunk of ice breaks off from an ice shelf. It falls into the ocean and floats
away. This is an iceberg. An iceberg may look small, but in fact, it is very big. Only a small part
of it can be seen above the water. Most of the iceberg is underwater, out of sight. Between
one-seventh and one-tenth of an iceberg can be seen above the water. This makes it dangerous to
shipping.
In March 2000, an iceberg named B-15 broke away from an ice shelf in Antarctica. It was
295 kilometres long and covered an area six times the size of Greater London. Smaller parts of
B-15 were still being tracked after it broke away from the ice shelf. Those parts have since melted
初三英语 第 4 页 共 8 页
as the icebergs moved into warmer water.
Icebergs can be very dangerous. In 1912, a large passenger ship called the Titanic was sailing
from England to New York when it hit an iceberg in the North Atlantic Ocean. It sank to the
bottom of the ocean and 1, 500 people lost their life.
Today, scientists mainly use radar and satellite pictures to track the paths of icebergs.
Sometimes ships such as this icebreaker work with helicopters (直升机) or drones on iceberg
patrols. They make sure that there are no icebergs around that can endanger passing ships.
Helicopters fly out over the sea and locate all the icebergs they can find. As an iceberg floats
along, the wind and the weather can carve the ice into strange shapes.
Icebergs are made of fresh water. Some scientists believe that one day it will be possible to
make use of them to get drinking water for dry parts of the world. If all the ice on Earth melted,
the sea level would rise by about six metres. If there was another ice age, more water would freeze
and the sea level would fall.
At the moment, sea levels are rising at about three millimetres every year. This is believed to
be because of the warming of the Earth's climate. Melting ice and rising sea levels also affect areas
far away from the frozen regions.
18. What does the underlined word “carve” mean in this passage
A.Cut. B.Mix. C.Melt. D.Break.
19. The following sentence can best be put at the beginning of ________.
Some icebergs, especially in the Antarctic, can be very huge.
A.Paragraph 2 B.Paragraph 3 C.Paragraph 4 D.Paragraph 5
20. The writer mentioned Titanic ________.
A.to explain what icebergs are made of
B.to tell where icebergs can be found
C.to show how dangerous icebergs are
D.to guess why icebergs are in strange shapes
21. What can we learn about icebergs
A.Most parts of the iceberg can be seen easily.
B.The sea level would fall a lot if the icebergs on Earth melt.
C.It is easy for people to get drinking water from icebergs now.
D.Scientists have some ways to help ships keep away from icebergs.

In a small village, a very sick girl, Maggie, was found by the roadside. The villagers felt pity
for the poor child.
“Take her to the poorhouse,” a villager suggested.
“The poorhouse is a sad place for a sick and helpless child,” answered another.
They discussed for a while but still no one seemed willing to take her.
Finally, Joe Thompson, a kind man, couldn’t leave Maggie behind. He carried her home
gently.
As he got home, Jane, his childless, ill-tempered (易怒的) wife, angrily questioned, “What
did you bring her here for ”
“She is too weak to walk,” replied Joe. “I will carry her to the poorhouse tomorrow and the

fixed upon Jane. The little girl’s expression was sad yet thankful.

and helpless.”

We all avoid failure(失败), and most of us fear it. However, without failure, progress would
be impossible. What does success usually come after 26
Accepting failure is not easy for many, though. We are often unwilling to accept failure
because our professional fame depends on success. 27 In the past ten years, for
example, some scientific magazines have published reports of failed tests. It is believed that
scientists can learn from “negative(负 面 的 )” results and that this can finally lead to positive
results.
28 The ABN AMRO bank started an Institute(机构) of Brilliant Failures to learn
more about what works and what doesn’t in banking. Similarly, Eli Lilly and Company had failure
parties to study the drugs(药物) that don’t work.
In fact, one of the business world’s most famous failures became one of its biggest successes,
in part because the product’s makers learned from their mistakes. In the early 1990s, Apple
created a phone called the Apple Newton. The product, though unique(独特的) at the time, was
expensive and heavy; besides, some of its most important features(特点) didn’t work properly.
29 and in 1998, the company stopped selling it. However. Apple’s CEO, Steve Jobs, believe
in the product and he began to find out ways of improving it. In time, this led to the production of
the iPhone and the iPad, two of the company’s most successful products.
The story of the Apple Newton can teach us an important lesson about failure. 30
if we want to succeed, but also be persistent(执着的). Though Apple stopped selling the Newton
in 1998, the first iPhone wasn’t available until 2007. It took a lot of research and hard work to go
from the Apple Newton to iPhone, but in the end, the effort became successful.
All in all, there is a lot we can learn by studying mistakes. Perhaps the most important lesson
is that failure and success are two sides of the same coin. One truly cannot exist without the other.
A.Not only should we try to learn from it;
B.We are brave enough to face difficulties.
C.The business world already understands the value of negative results.
D.However, things are slowly changing, especially in business and science.
E.The Apple Newton has won popularity with people all over the world.
F.Failure. It seems that one cannot exist(存在) without the other.
G.As a result, it became one of Apple’s biggest failures,、
