He was the only gray cub(狼崽)of the mother wolf. The other cubs had red in their hair. He was gray like his father. He was the strongest cub. He showed more anger than his brothers and sisters. He made more noises.
He was a meat-eating animal. He came out of a family of meat-killers and meat-eaters. His father and mother lived only on meat. In his first few weeks of life, he lived on mother’s milk, which was actually from meat. And now, at a month old, when his eyes had been open for only a week, he was beginning himself to eat meat.
There came a time when there was no meat. For many days the cubs did not eat. They were too weak and tired to play. One-Eye, the cub’s father, was killed in the fight for food. Even the mother wolf left the cave to find meat, but there was nothing. One by one, the cubs died. Only the mother wolf and the gray cub were left.
One day the gray cub ran out of the cave to hunt for his own food. He met a weasel of his size. The rat-like animal ran at him and bit his throat. He was nearly dead when the mother wolf arrived just in time to kill and eat it.
The gray cub was not good at hunting yet, and still needed food from his mother. One day, the mother wolf brought him a baby lynx(猞猁). While eating, he heard great noise. The kitten’s mother had followed the mother wolf here. The mother wolf and the mother lynx started to fight, and they would fight to the death. He ran forward and bit one of her legs. This was enough to give the mother wolf the chance she needed. The lynx was dead, but the mother wolf was badly hurt. For a week, she did not move. The gray cub had to find food for both of them.
Without his mother to take care of him, he learnt what life was about. Without meat, there was no life. Animals had to eat other animals to survive. The law of meat was: EAT OR BE EATEN.
— Adapted from White Fang

Getting hugged (拥抱) by someone you care about can be a wonderful experience. Research has shown that hugs can strengthen our social connections, improve our emotional (情感的) state and reduce feelings of loneliness. They can even help to lower stress levels and improve our health.
Unfortunately, not everyone has the chance to receive hugs when they need them. So, how can this problem be solved One idea that scientists have suggested is to develop social robots that can hug people. They think these robots could probably provide lonely people with the benifits (好处) of getting hugged.
However, creating a hug robot that is well-accepted by people and reduce stress is no simple task. For example, if the design of the robot looks intimidating, people may feel uncomfortable about hugging it. Therefore, it is important for researchers to have further studies on the design which should include acceptance and comfort.
A recent study published in the International Journal of Social Robotics focused on the development of Moffully-Ⅱ, a newly developed hug robot. It looks like a large, human-shaped teddy bear and stands at two meters tall. During a hug, it is able to move its arms and make different gestures (手势). Copying the actions that humans usually do during hugs, such as tapping someone on the back, is necessary for making the hug feel real.
During the study, volunteers who received hugs from Moffully-Ⅱ showed more love for hugs with gestures than those without gestures. They sensed the robot as friendlier and safer when it made gestures, and they found the hugs were more enjoyable in general.
While some people may feel uncomfortable with the idea of hugging a robot instead of a human, hug robots offer those who are in need of hugs another way to meet their needs. This includes those in old people’s homes who hope for hugs, even if they are provided by a robot.

Good morning, everyone! I am very happy to be here to make a speech today. The topic of my speech is “Face problems, Enjoy growth”. I am l5 years old. I like doing sports. But I used to hate doing sports. It was my mother who changed me.
Once I spent too much watching TV and playing computer games. So my grades were worse and worse. My mother noticed my changes. She had a long conversation with me. She said that spending too much on them was bad for my eyes. She advised me to relax by listening to music and doing sports. She asked me to run for an hour in the morning every day. A few days later, I found running could make me healthy and happy. I could do everything better.
In my opinion, when you meet some difficulties, you can share them with your parents or teachers. They will give you some useful advice.
That’s all. Thank you!
