Trees are one of the oldest plants of our Earth. They keep our air clean, make less pollution, make water cleaner and provide food and building materials.
Just like us, trees change a lot as they grow. At one to three years old, young trees learn how to protect themselves. For example, many trees grow thorns (刺) to stop animals from going near.
At the age of four years old, trees begin to grow very quickly and become strong enough to face many difficulties (困难) later in life. At the age of 15, trees become young adults (成年人). They grow more slowly and begin to produce (生长) flowers and fruit.
When the tree is 20 to 25 years old, it becomes a real adult. The tree reaches its largest size. It gives us shade and provides a great place for a tree house, or a place for us to read a book, listen to music and so on. If we all learn how to protect the adult tree, it will live healthily for many years.
Little by little, trees begin to grow older and older and even die. At this time, older trees are still very important in nature. When a tree becomes hollow or part of it dies, it can be a home to small animals.

Technology is changing how we use our brains. It’s making it harder to focus, read deeply, and think carefully. This might create a new problem where only rich people can afford good thinking skills—just like how only some people can afford healthy food. Junk food is cheap and everywhere, so poor people often eat more of it and get sick. In the same way, quick, fun internet content is everywhere, but deep reading is becoming rare (稀有的) and expensive.
The internet teaches our brains bad habits. Short videos and social media train us to look at things fast instead of thinking hard. Reading real books helps our brains grow stronger, but many kids today only look at phones. Poor kids have this problem worse because they often spend more time on screens and less time reading books.
Soon, being able to think well might cost money—like buying healthy food. We need to decide: Do we want a world where only rich people can think deeply Or should everyone get a chance to train their brain properly
66 is Getting Hard
Main 67 Technology makes it harder to focus, read deeply, and think carefully. Poor people eat more junk food; similarly, they consume more 68 internet content.
