Wan Haibo, a 43-year-old deliveryman (快递员), became a national model worker on April28, 2025 in Beijing. He received this honor (荣誉) for his excellent delivery work and active volunteer work. Wan said, “I feel very excited and proud.”
Born in the countryside in Handan, Wan has been a deliveryman in Tianjin since 2018. “It’s necessary to send every parcel (包裹) right to the customer in time,” he told the reporter from Beijing Daily. “As I have to work in the sun and wind, the job is laborious, I thought about stopping, but finally got through the difficulties.”

China is a country with lots of places of interest and artworks. Among them, the Old Summer Palace, or Yuanmingyuan, was once a beautiful royal (皇家的) garden. Among its artifacts (文物) were the Twelve Zodiac (生肖) Animal Heads, which were part of(a water clock system. These amazing bronze sculptures (青铜雕塑) were symbols of great skill. However, they were lost abroad. As China grew stronger, these priceless artifacts were gradually (逐渐地) brought home.
In April 2000, people in Hong Kong were angry when the auction house Christie’s (佳士得拍卖行) planned to sell two of the Zodiac heads. They organized protests (抗议) and called for the return of the national treasures. The State Administration of Cultural Heritage (国家文物局) tried to stop the auction, but Christie’s still went ahead with it.
Although the first try to stop the auction failed, Poly Group, a major Chinese State-owned company, stepped in. On April 30,2000, Poly bought the Monkey and Ox heads for 8.185 million and 7.745 million Hong Kong dollars respectively. Polys spokesperson said, “These treasures belong to all Chinese people. They will return to Beijing!”
The efferts coutinued with another auction, where Poly worked with other Chinese collectors to buy the Tiger Head. On May 2,2000, Poly bought the Tiger Head at Sotheby’s for 15.44million Hong Kong dollars.
Over time, more Zodiac heads have been brought back to China. In 2003. businessman Stanley Ho donated the Pig Head to the Poly Art Museum. In 2007, Ho also bought the Horse Head for 69.1 million Hong Kong dollars and donated it to the State Administration of Cultural Heritage. In 2013, the French Pinault family returned the Rat and Rabbit heads, which wereplaced in the National Museum.
So far, seven of the 12 Zodiac heads have returned to China, but the Dragon, Snake, Sheep.

Wan Haibo, a 43-year-old deliveryman (快递员), became a national model worker on April28, 2025 in Beijing. He received this honor (荣誉) for his excellent delivery work and active volunteer work. Wan said, “I feel very excited and proud.”

China is a country with lots of places of interest and artworks. Among them, the Old Summer Palace, or Yuanmingyuan, was once a beautiful royal (皇家的) garden. Among its artifacts (文物) were the Twelve Zodiac (生肖) Animal Heads, which were part of(a water clock system. These amazing bronze sculptures (青铜雕塑) were symbols of great skill. However, they were lost abroad. As China grew stronger, these priceless artifacts were gradually (逐渐地) brought home.
In April 2000, people in Hong Kong were angry when the auction house Christie’s (佳士得拍卖行) planned to sell two of the Zodiac heads. They organized protests (抗议) and called for the return of the national treasures. The State Administration of Cultural Heritage (国家文物局) tried to stop the auction, but Christie’s still went ahead with it.
Although the first try to stop the auction failed, Poly Group, a major Chinese State-owned company, stepped in. On April 30,2000, Poly bought the Monkey and Ox heads for 8.185 million and 7.745 million Hong Kong dollars respectively. Polys spokesperson said, “These treasures belong to all Chinese people. They will return to Beijing!”
The efferts coutinued with another auction, where Poly worked with other Chinese collectors to buy the Tiger Head. On May 2,2000, Poly bought the Tiger Head at Sotheby’s for 15.44million Hong Kong dollars.
Over time, more Zodiac heads have been brought back to China. In 2003. businessman Stanley Ho donated the Pig Head to the Poly Art Museum. In 2007, Ho also bought the Horse Head for 69.1 million Hong Kong dollars and donated it to the State Administration of Cultural Heritage. In 2013, the French Pinault family returned the Rat and Rabbit heads, which wereplaced in the National Museum.
So far, seven of the 12 Zodiac heads have returned to China, but the Dragon, Snake, Sheep.
