In Finland (芬兰), a family came up with a special idea to protect their forest: they let people come and hug the trees. Every August, the World Tree Hugging Game will take place in Finland. In this game, people do three things:First, hug as many trees as possible in one minute, with each hug lasting at least five seconds. Second, give a wholehearted hug to one tree and hold it for one minute, showing care, love, and respect. Third, people must creatively hug a tree for one minute. Then, the judges will decide the winner.
It might sound strange, but the game has a serious meaning: to help people connect with nature and save the forest from being cut down. “At first, people thought it was silly,” Riitta, the owner of a forest, said, “but not in a bad way. Finns like to do unusual things and don't want to be too serious, especially in the countryside and forest. ”
In a recent survey, over 80% said the forest is important to them. Finland is heavily covered in forests, with over 70% of its land being forested.
What makes the tree hugging program work well is that it's not just about saving the forest; it also gives a good feeling to the visitors, like a hug does. “I enjoy taking people into the forest and seeing the change in them. The trees don't judge them—they can be who they are,” said Riitta.

Elephants are the largest terrestrial (陆地的) animals. They are very helpful. They carry big trees, take people from place to place and are even used in wars.
Some people think it's not easy to hurt an elephant because its skin is thick and hard.In fact, that's wrong. Sometimes, a needle (针) can also be very dangerous for the elephant.
People say elephants are afraid of mice. This is wrong, too. In fact, elephants have very poor eyesight, so they usually cannot see a mouse even if one comes very close to them.
If a person has a good memory (记忆力), people will say that he has a memory like an elephant. However, up to now, no study shows that elephants have a better memory than any other animal.
People also believe that when it is time for elephants to die, they will hide themselves in a so called “elephant__graveyard”. Often, hunters try to find such places to get ivory (象牙) but few people really find places like that. In fact, when elephants are old or get sick, they will stay in deep and secret caves (洞穴) until they get better or die.

Text 2
W:It was fine yesterday. Where did you go
M:Well, I volunteered in a zoo. I love animals so much.
W:So do I. What did you do there
M:I watched the bears for a long time. One of them was standing. The other two bears were boxing. I had a good laugh about that. But at that time I saw a visitor throwing food to them. I ran up to him and stopped him.
W:You did well. We shouldn't feed the animals ourselves, because some of the animals had been hurt by the food given by visitors.
M:That's right. There are signs saying “No Feeding”. Visitors must pay attention to them.
Text 3
M:It is Sunday. I took part in the “Environment Protector” activity with my classmates today. In the morning, we rode our bikes and arrived at the People's Park at 8:00. When we got there, we found that some boys were climbing the trees and that the ground and public walls were really dirty, which made us all so sad. So we began to do our jobs. Firstly, we picked up the rubbish and cleaned up the public walls together. After that, we planted some young trees in the park. All of us worked so hard. In my opinion, it's our duty to take good care of our environment. If everyone protects the environment, the world will become more and more beautiful.

The western part was built with earth, about 5.3 meters high. In the eastern part, the inside parts of the wall were also built with earth, but the outer parts were covered with bricks and rocks. The wall of the eastern part is about 7.8 meters high and 6.5 meters wide. It is wide enough for five horses to go side by side. When it is sunny, many people visit it with excitement. Protect Endangered Animals
Hello, everyone! Today I am very happy to give a speech.I want to talk about a kind of endangered animal—pandas.
Pandas live in Sichuan, China. They are black and white. They like climbing trees and walking in the forests. They feed on bamboo. They are very cute and lovely. But their situation is becoming very difficult. They are in danger.First, pandas don't have many babies and baby pandas often die.Second, pandas eat bamboo, but the bamboo forests are getting smaller.
To protect animals is to protect ourselves, so we should make a better life for pandas. We can set up nature parks with lots of bamboo so that pandas can have enough food to eat.It is also a good idea to raise money for them. I hope there will be more pandas in the world.
