一、阅读理解(本大题共3小题,共30分)
(本题10分)It was a February afternoon. We were in a classroom. Taylor Angler watched some ducks swimming on a farm. But it was all in her head. A virtual reality headset (虚拟现实头戴式显示设备) took her there. “I was surprised to find that the ducks were right in front of me! It was an exciting experience (经历).” Taylor said after taking off the purple headset and finding herself still in the classroom. Many students around the world are taking VR “trips” like Taylor. But what change does it cause in learning
Taking children to visit different places is a good way to teach them about the world. But what can children do if they forget it after the trip VR lets children go back at any time.
It’s difficult to talk about something if you didn’t see it with your own eyes in the past. If you didn’t see the ocean, with VR, now you can have a look at it for yourself.
VR can also help students in science classes at school. “Too often at school, when you do experiments (实验), you put different kinds of chemicals together and then get the result. And if you aren’t successful, you need to do it again,” a high school teacher said. “But we don’t have enough chemicals. With VR, I just need to do it again on the computer. I don’t have to use chemicals.”
VR is useful, but that’s not to say we don’t need real-world experiences. The real world is what we really need to learn about.

It was Christmas Eve when I arrived home, and a light snow had fallen. Mother opened the front door. I could see over her, into the corner of the living room where the tree had always stood. There were lights all colors shining in the green of the tree.
“Where did it come from ” I asked.
I asked the gate boy to cut it” my mother said. “I wouldn’t have had one just for myself, but you called in such a rush! He just brought it in this afternoon.”
The tree was almost as tall as the room, and the Tree Top Star was in its place. A few branches reached about a little disorderly at the side,I thought, and there was a big bare branch(树枝) showing in the middle. But the tree filled the room with the pleasant smell of Christmas.
“It’s not like the one you want to find,” my mother went on. “Yours were always in good shape and you were good at it. I think the gate boy didn’t know where to look for a better one.” “Don’t worry.” I told her. “It’s perfect.”

(本题10分)Say you’re sitting around with some friends playing video games and someone mentions a game that happens to be one of your favorites. “Oh, that game’s easy. So not worth the time,” one of your friends says. The others agree. Although you enjoy the game quite a lot, not wanting to argue with them, you go along with the crowd.
You have just experienced what is commonly referred to as peer pressure, also called peer influence. You will adopt a certain type of behavior, dress, or attitude in order to be accepted as part of a group of your “peers”. As a teen, you are likely to have experienced the effect of peer pressure in a number of different areas.
We are all influenced by our peers at any age. For teens, as school and other activities take you away from home, you may spend more time with your friends than with your family. As you become more independent, your peers naturally play a greater role in your life.
According to Dr. Casey from Cornel University, teens are very quick and accurate in making decisions on their own and in situations where they have time to think. However, when they make decisions in the heat of the moment or in social situations, their decisions are often influenced by factors like peers. In a recent study, teen volunteers played a video driving game, either alone or with friends watching. The researchers discovered that the number of risks teens took more than doubled when their friends were watching, compared with when they played alone. This shows that teens may find it more difficult to control risky behavior when their friends are around, or in situations where they are extremely angry.
Just as people can influence us to make unwise choices, they can also influence us to make good ones. A teen might join in a volunteer project because his or her friends are doing it, or get good grades because his or her friends think getting good grades is important. In fact, friends often encourage each other to study, or try out for sports.
While we are always influenced by those around us, the decision to act or not is up to us. So when it comes to decision making, the choice is up to you.
11.(2分) According to the passage, Dr. Casey probably agrees that teens ___________.
A.like to play driving games with their friends
B.prefer situations where they have time to think
C.may take more risks when their friends are around
D.are slow in making decisions when they are on their own

A.Friends often encourage each other to study or do sports.
B.People can be influenced to make unwise choices easily all the time.
C.Only teens are influenced by peers.
D.The decision to act or not is up to peers because we are always influenced by them.
13.(2分) The words “in the heat of the moment” in Paragraph 4 probably mean “________”.
