First of all,we can help parents with housework, like doing the dishes after dinner, taking out the rubbish and making the bed by ourselves. These can help us learn to be independent.
Second, it' s a good idea to take part in some volunteer activities to spend the weekend. We can volunteer at an old people' s home. We could read the newspapers to them and clean their rooms to cheer them up. Helping others is helping ourselves.And we will get a strong feeling of satisfaction.
