Just when I couldn’t live anymore, a science-fiction magazine saved me. When I read Writer’s
Digest, an idea came to my mind. Why didn’t I make a living by writing for it That’s something I
could do. After finishing my first novel, I contacted the magazine. I thought my life made sense at
last. It’s a career path where all of my reading paid off and where I wouldn’t be shut out because of
my illness.
My background made my science-fiction works more creative. I didn’t know what it was like to
have a normal family and life, but that was what made my science fiction unique. One of my
