It was early winter several years ago. I had pulled out my old winter coat for another year's use. It was still in pretty good shape although it was looking dirty from so many winters' wear. I didn't really need a new one but I wanted one and casually mentioned it to my daughter one day. She was such a sweet, loving girl that I should have guessed what would happen next. A few weeks later she gave me a new winter coat as a gift
I put the old one in my closet and started to wear the new coat every day. Each day, though, when I opened my closet, something troubled me. It seemed a shame that my old but still good coat should just sit there keeping no one warm during the cold winter days. After a few weeks, I took it out and drove to a local charity shop. I knew that there was someone who couldn't afford a coat but could get my old one.
My new coat is my old coat now. It is getting a little dirty and worn, too. It has black marks on the sleeves. It is in too bad shape to even donate to charity. I wonder it! I should buy a new one soon, but I think I will wait for a while. I don't really need a new one and maybe I can find something else to give to the charity shop instead.
Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “ Want is a growing giant whom the coat of Have was never large enough to cover." Perhaps the best way to deal with our wants then is to give instead. Love, after all, brings us the most joy. And the more of it you give away, the more of it you have.

C. There was not enough room for his new coat,

26.What is the author's decision after his second coat becomes old
A. Telling his daughter. B. Buying a new one soon.
C. Donating it to charity. D. Sending something else to charity.
27.What does the author want to show in the last paragraph
A. Giving fills our wants. B. Love is the key to joy.
C. The more you give, the more you lose. D. A coat is large enough to cover our wants.

People will tell you the only way to really learn a language is to completely immerse(浸入)yourself in a country where that language is spoken. Not all language learners, of course, will have the opportunity to spend some time in an immersion environment. But if you can't actually fly across the world to learn a new language, you can always create an immersion environment where you can talk to native speakers.
That's where Babbel comes in. Babbel is one of the most popular language learning apps on the market for studying new languages at your own pace. The app emphasises real-life conversational skills, so you won't be stopped by grammatical structures and verb patterns.
And right now, you can get 15% off a lifetime subscription (订阅) to Babbel Language Learning($150; ). A lifetime subscription is huge when it comes to getting the most out of the app, since you'll be able to return to lessons time and time again and brush up on whichever section or topic you might need.
So how does it all work First, you'll choose one of the 14 languages. While Babbel offers familiar languages like Spanish and Italian, it also offers less commonly studied ones like Polish, Indonesian and more. Once you pick your language, you'll choose a wide range of real-life topics. Each course takes about 10 to 15 minutes, so you can pick one up on the way to work, during your lunch break, or really at any point you have some time to kill.
Beyond this, Babbel includes a ton of additional features tailored to making sure you learn the language in a real, practical and accurate way. The app uses speech recognition technology to make sure your pronunciation is accurate compared with how native speakers would say certain words.
28. What does Paragraph 1 mainly tell us
A. The terrifying experiences of travelling.
B. The importance of language learning environment.
C. Different ways to learn a new language.
D. Opportunities to communicate with native speakers.
29. What can we know about Babbel
A. It's a tool for learning languages. B. It is designed in various types.
C. It focuses more on grammar structures. D. It's the most popular app in the market.
30. What should the users do first to learn with the app
A. Choose the place to learn a course. B. Pick the language they want to learn.
C. Calculate the reading time. D. Choose a proper topic.
31. Why does Babbel use speech recognition technology
A. To represent its additional features. B. To meet the needs of native speakers.
C. To compare differences between words. D. To make the pronunciation correct.
D
“I feel unlikable, lonely and hopeless,”said Lisa, a bright teenager from a loving home. “It seems that nobody wants to become my friend. What's wrong with me ”
Like Lisa, many of us experience loneliness. The truth is that all people, no matter what their age or character - even the most outgoing, wealthy and popular - experience loneliness at least sometimes. It's healthy and natural to want to be around people who care. After all, we've all heard “No man is an island." That's true. We all need others in our lives.
Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, explains that if we want friends, we must be friendly and reach out to others. But it has risk. Because we are often afraid of rejection (拒绝), many of us are unwilling to reach out to others. We take a safer way and wait for others to make friends with us. But if we want friends, we've got to get beyond this.
If making friends is your goal as well, you need to consider taking some measures (措施).
Be willing to take the initiative(主动权). If you see someone whom you would like to know, don't wait for her to make the first move. Get close to her and begin a conversation. Let her know in a non aggressive (无攻击性的) way that you are interested in being friends with her.
Reach out to those who are lonely. When you see someone at school sitting alone, go over and talk to her. And don't let popularity decide whom you reach out to. You'll often be surprised at the beautiful qualities behind a shy appearance.
Ask questions. Start your first conversation by asking this possible friend what she likes to do or asking about her family. Be sure to ask questions that cannot be replied with “yes”or “no”. For example, don't ask “Do you have a dog ”Instead, say “So, tell me about your pets.” Avoiding asking “yes”or “no”questions makes your possible friend not end your communication with a one word answer.
32.Why does the author begin the text with Lisa's worry
A. To set a sad tone. B. To share Lisa's pain.
C. To introduce the topic. D. To teach readers a lesson.
33.What can be a risk caused by reaching out to others according to the passage
A. Being refused by others.
B. Putting ourselves in danger.
C.Being treated in a rude way.
D. Losing interest in communicating.
34.What can we know from Paragraph 5
A. Shy people are hard to talk to.
B. Popular people are often easy going.
C. Just waiting for chances will waste our time.
D. A proper manner is important in making friends.
35.Why does the author suggest not asking “yes”or “no”questions
A. It is considered unfriendly.
B. It will leave a bad first impression.
C. It shows the poor quality of the speaker.
D. It isn't good for keeping a conversation going.

Top Tips for the Flu Season
It’s coming. I can feel it in the air. On the subway every time someone coughs, I look up to see if I can move a little further. As I exit the train, I immediately reach for hand wash to remove any of the dirt on my hands. 36
If you are young and healthy, it’s most likely that you will just feel uncomfortable for a week or two, miss some work or study. If you are elderly, have medical problems, or are a young child, you may not be so lucky. 37 Depending on the year, between 3,000 and 49,000 people die.
The best way to prevent the flu is to get vaccinated (接种疫苗). 38 However, it still offers considerable protection. In adults, the vaccine is 59 percent protective on average. For children the story is better. Clearly, we need better vaccines but it’s still a really good idea to get vaccinated.
Can the flu shot give you the flu You may have an arm pain or a little fever, but the injection does not contain a live virus and cannot give you the flu.
39 It isn’t clear how long protection lasts and if the vaccine protects against different flus for only one year.
Finally, here is some advice for what to do if you get the flu.
40
Stay at home until your fever has been gone for at least 24 hours. That will reduce the number of people you give this to.
Cover your coughs and sneezes.
Keep your hands clean. Use soap and water or hand wash frequently, especially after coughing or sneezing.
Drink plenty of water.
Best wishes for a happy flu season!
Flu season is here, and I take it seriously.
If you got the flu shot last year, do you need it this year
Each year more than 200,000 people are staying in hospital due to the illness.
If you have the symptoms, call your doctor early to see if he wants to prescribe some medicine.
Flu symptoms usually come on suddenly and frequently and include high fever, cough, sore throat and body aches.
Oftentimes doctors’ offices have special rooms set up in the fall just for giving flu shots, so its fast , easy and effective.
You may have heard about a new study on flu vaccines, and it found that the flu vaccine didn’t work as well as we thought or would like.
