Do you sometimes feel different, alone or left out Maybe yes. Recently scientists have done a survey about“being alone” among people aged from 3to 60. It shows that teenagers have great needs to feel like they belong to a group. Simply having to eat alone in the dining hall is enough to make them feel upset. They are afraid of being called a“loner”.
But being a loner doesn't always mean being strange or disliked. Actually, it has become a lifestyle in many countries among young people who consider being alone to be an everyday part of life.
In the Republic of Korea, there are a growing number of people who describe themselves as“honjok”. The word comes from“hon”:(alone) and“ jok ”(tribe). These people eat alone, travel alone, and enjoy being by themselves.
In Japan, people have developed a strong loner culture over the years. There are solo (单独的) karaoke bars and solo cafes. Ramen restaurants for solo diners are especially popular. Clapboards(隔板) separate each seat.
Diners can't see the faces of other customers or waiters. But knowing that there are other solo diners there may make you feel better. But more importantly, you can try to find strength in your aloneness.
Aloneness gives you time to look inside yourself or think about something without distraction(干扰). “It's hard to feel lonely when you' re trying to develop a new skill, practice a hobby or try to find out a new cooking recipe, " wrote US lifestyle writer Adrienne Breaux.
So when you are alone next time, instead of finding someone to talk to or hang out with, you may want to try to have fun on your own. You can start by walking in a park or visiting a museum alone. It may seem strange and boring at first. But be patient. Give it time. You may finally find the beauty in being alone.

C. Aloneness may help people feel strong.
D. People in the Republic of Korea developed a strong loner culture.
48. If a solo diner sees other solo diners at Ramen restaurants , he might feel .
A. sadder B. more excited C. more nervous D. better
49. What can aloneness bring according to Adrienne Breaux
A. It makes people feel lonely all the time.
B. It gives people time to develop skills or practice hobbies without distraction.
C It stops people from finding new cooking recipes.
D. It makes people want to hang out with others.
50. What is the main idea of the passage
A. Being alone can be a good lifestyle and people may find its beauty.
B. Being a loner is always strange and disliked.
C. Teenagers should never be loners.
D. Japanese people don't like solo culture.

Is there a connection between music and language According to recent studies, the answer is yes: Music helps develop certain language abilities in the brain.
A study from Northwestern University shows that playing a musical groups of people listened to a person talking in a noisy room. The people in the first group were musicians, while those in the second group had no musical training. The musicians were found to be able to hear better, because they learn to pay attention to certain sounds.
For example, when the violinists play in a band, they must listen closely to what they are playing and ignore the other sounds. In this way, musicians can hear certain sounds better, even in a room with lots of noise.
Gotfried Schlaug, a doctor at Harvard Medical School, works with stroke(中风) patients. Because of their illness, these people cannot say their names, addresses, or other information normally. However, they can still sing. Dr.Schlaug was surprised to use singing words to help his patients finally speak. Why does this work Schlaug isn't sure. Music seems to be able to make different parts of the brain active, including the bad parts. In some way, this helps patients use those parts of the brain again.
So music is not only enjoyable, but also good for us in many other ways.“Playing an instrument or singing,” says Nina Kraus, “can help us do better in school and keep our brain sharp as we get older.”
