Passage 1
Friendship is a special bond between people. It is based on trust, respect and understanding. A good friend will always be there for you when you need help. For example, if you are in trouble, a good friend will offer to help you. If you are sad, a good friend will try to cheer you up.
To keep a friendship, you need to communicate with your friend often. You can share your daily life, your dreams and your problems. You should also listen to your friend’s ideas and feelings. This shows that you care about your friend.
Another important thing is to be honest. If you lie to your friend, he or she may not trust you anymore. Trust is the foundation of a friendship. Once trust is lost, it is hard to get it back.
Conflicts are common in friendships. When you have a conflict with your friend, you should not avoid it. Instead, you should talk about it calmly. You can explain your side of the story and listen to your friend’s side. This way, you can solve the problem together and make your friendship stronger.

The survey also found that 40% of the students have had conflicts with their friends. Among these students, 75% solved the conflicts by talking to their friends, 15% asked teachers or parents for help, and 10% let the conflicts go away on their own.
