A university lecturer in Linyi, Shandong province, has shone a light on the difficulties of food
delivery drivers by taking on the role himself for a month and sharing his trials and sufferings
online.
Last December, Xing Bin, a lecturer at the College of Literature at Linyi University, was so
eager to know about what life and work must be like for a delivery driver, so he decided to sign up
and be one from December to January this year. The gig economy (临时工), for better or worse,
has exploded in China in recent years, and though many members of the workforce choose to work
in the gig economy because of its flexibility (灵活性), others prefer full-time employment.
During the month, Xing worked more than 10 hours and took 30, 000 steps a day. He lost 6
kilograms and earned a total of 7, 000 yuan. On average, he earned 10 yuan each hour, and 20
yuan at most. “I was delivering food from early morning till late at night for around 13 hours a
day. When I had classes, I delivered food for two hours early in the morning, and after dinner I
continued delivering until one or two in the morning,” Xing said.
“Before, if I got a call from a delivery worker, I might delay answering it. But now I will
always answer it immediately because I know they might be riding an electric bike while making
the call, which is very dangerous,” said Xing, adding that he now understands the difficulties of
delivery workers better and realizes how hard they work to make a living.
“During that month, I tasted the bitterness and the happiness of this job with my heart. I
delivered over 2, 000 orders, and three of the people who ordered impressed me a lot.” he said.
28. Why did Xing try the job of a delivery driver
A. Out of curiosity. B. Owing to its high pay.
C. Because of its flexibility. D. For its low career requirements.
29. What is the purpose of using numbers in paragraph 3
4
A. To introduce Xing’s experiences. B. To praise delivery workers’ spirits.
C. To describe delivery workers’ hardships. D. To show delivery workers’ achievements.
30. What may the passage talk about next
A. Requirements for the job. B. Memories of Xing’s experiences.
C. Xing’s calling for more respect. D. The online reaction to his posts.
31. What can we learn from Xing’s story
A. No pains, no gains. B. Save for a rainy day.
C. Easier said than done. D. Experience is the mother of wisdom.

Living a healthy lifestyle contains making choices about the foods we eat as well as exercise
and other daily activities. The term “healthy lifestyle” can be defined as “to improve and protect
one’s health and well-being”. For this purpose, a healthy lifestyle can include good eating habits,
regular physical activity and anti-alcoholism (抗酒精中毒).
First of all, good eating habits are the main way of living a healthy lifestyle. For instance,
rushed morning routines, trying to lose weight, and lack of appetite(胃口) early in the morning
are all reasons why people skip breakfast . However, most experts think that breakfast is the most
important meal of the day. Another example is fast food; a hamburger from McDonald’s with
special sauce and cheese is not exactly considered as a healthy meal. Our society today is
developing fast and people are on the go at all times. It is much easier to stop and get fast food. As
a result, humans become fatter. However, eating low-fat meals that include 5 to 9 serving of fruits
and vegetables every day is an ideal healthy life plan. Therefore, good eating habits are the main
way of living a healthy lifestyle.
Secondly, another way of living a healthy lifestyle is physical activity. Exercise is indeed part
of life because it keeps the body and mind in good shape. Exercise reduces stress and contributes
to a good sleep. It can keep a person looking and feeling younger throughout his entire life, and it
also helps build one’s energy and strength. So, physical activity is another way of living a healthy
lifestyle.
Finally, another way is anti-alcoholism. Addiction to alcohol may cause serious social and
public problems. It is accepted that driving after drinking is dangerous. Alcohol is a main factor of
traffic deaths. Alcoholism can also lead to diseases, such as heart attack or liver trouble. Thus,
anti-alcoholism is another way for a healthy lifestyle.
In conclusion, a healthy lifestyle can be maintained in three ways: the first way is good eating
habits, the second way is regular physical activity and the final way is anti-alcoholism.
32.When it comes to living a healthy lifestyle, which of the following is Not mentioned in the.
passage
A. Good eating habits. B. Anti-alcoholism. C. Physical activity. D. Losing weight.
33.What does the underlined phrase “on the go” mean
A. Busy. B. Boring. C. Hard. D. Happy.
34.According to the text, how can we feel younger throughout our life
A. By avoiding fast food. B. By being happy every day.
5
C. By taking regular exercise. D. By wearing some special clothes.
35.In what column are you most likely to find this text
A. Life. B. Sports. C. Economy. D. Advertisement.

第二节(满分 25 分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 I met Gunter on a cold, wet and unforgettable evening in September. I had planned to fly to
Vienna and take a bus to Prague for a conference(会议). Due to a big storm, my flight had been
delayed by an hour and a half. I arrived in Vienna just 30 minutes before the departure(离开) of
the last bus to Prague. As soon as I got off the plane, I ran like crazy through the airport building
and jumped into the first taxi on the rank without a second thought.
That was when I met Gunter. I told him where I was going, but he said he hadn't heard of the
bus station. I thought my pronunciation was the problem, so I explained again more slowly, but he
still looked confused. When I was about to give up, Gunter fished out his little phone and rang up a
friend. After a heated discussion that lasted for what seemed like a century, Gunter put his phone
down and started the car.
Finally, with just two minutes to spare we reached the bus station. Thankfully, there was a long
queue (队列) still waiting to board the bus. Gunter parked the taxi behind the bus, turned around,
and looked at me with a big smile on his face. "We made it," he said.
Just then I realised that I had zero cash in my wallet. I flashed him an apologetic smile as I
pulled out my Portuguese bankcard. He tried it several times, but the card machine just did not
play along(配合). A feeling of helplessness washed over me as I saw the bus queue thinning out.
At this moment, Gunter pointed towards the waiting hall of the bus station. There, at the
entrance, was a cash machine(取款机). I jumped out of the car, made a mad run for the machine,
and popped my card in, only to read the message: "Out of order. Sorry."

Dear John,
I am sorry to hear that you are suffering from TikTok addiction. Actually, it is
commonly seen that more and more teenagers get crazy about TikTok and spend a lot
of time watching and sharing videos online, which makes them unable to focus on
study. Therefore, immediate measures should be taken to stop it. You should start
some other hobbies, such as reading, listening to music or playing chess. Besides, you
had better make more friends through face to face communication.
I sincerely hope that these ideas can help you with the problem.
Best wishes!

Para 1
I ran back to Gunter and told him the bad news. He looked at me in disbelief,
asking me what to do. Flashing him another apologetic smile, I begged him for a
delayed payment. “If I miss this last bus to Prague, I’ll be late for the conference
which is so important that I can’t afford to miss it!” I explained. “May I have your
phone number I will call you and return the money I owe you. I promise I will keep
my word or you keep my watch!” I added, handing him my watch as well as my
business card. Gunter accepted my business card but rejected my watch. He wrote
down his phone number and gave it to me. “Just keep your promise, Sir.” A feeling of
gratitude washed over me as I heard his words. Giving him a firm handshake, I
jumped out of the car, made a mad run for the bus, and jumped onto it just before itsdeparture.
Para 2
Four days later, when I was back in Vienna, I called Gunter as promised. He
picked me up at the bus station where he had dropped me off four days before.
Beaming a warm smile at him, I gave him a big hug the moment I saw him. We
chatted happily on the way to the airport. I told him that thanks to his generosity and
timely help, everything had gone smoothly. When he stopped his taxi outside the
airport, I paid him for the “double car ride”, back and forth from the airport to the bus
station, together with a generous tip that he turned down. I also gave him an attractive
souvenir I had bought at Prague, which he accepted with delight. We became good
friends and kept in touch with each other regularly. I felt blessed to have such a
warm-hearted friend like Gunter.
