There are many rules for us Chinese to follow to be better people and live better. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you", which is from The Analects of Confucius(《论语》),is worth our lifetime to practice.
Chang Sheng,a Chinese teacher, explains the rule to us. It means that if you don't want others to do something to you, then don't do it to them. Put simply, avoid doing something to people that even you can't tolerate(忍受). It encourages us to put ourselves in others' place, which will help us get along better. Confucius asked his students to follow and practice this rule their whole lives.
This rule works well from ancient to modern times. It can be used in daily life. For example, if you don't want others to talk about you behind your back, then don't talk about others behind theirs. Another example is how to get along in group work. If you are a leader who is responsible for the tasks, you should consider each member's feelings and advantages to make the best decision instead of being bossy.

Stand in front of a mirror and look at it. How much do you really know about the person in it It's not easy to know ourselves. To help students, schools across China are providing more classes and activities on self- knowledge.
Liu Yue,a teacher from Chengdu Yucai Middle School, has recently given her students a useful tool. "It's called the Johari Window, developed by two US psychologists," said Liu,"It has four areas about one's self:open area (that everyone knows about),hidden area (that only you know),blind spot (that everyone knows except you) and unknown area (that nobody knows). Using this tool, students successfully saw themselves in a new way.
"I'm most curious about my blind spot," said eighth-grader Yang Manfei. "So I did a survey." The results showed that Yang easily gets worried and impatient because of procrastination(拖延症). "That's a bad habit" Yang said.
"I find the unknown area more amazing," said Sun Boyin. "It means everyone has lots of potential." He wasn't good at math at first. "But I set a goal and did many math exercises. Now I'm much better at math. The unknown part of my math ability is getting clearer!" Sun said.
When it came to ________, most students kept silent. "I'm scared to show my secrets deep down," said Li Yixuan. " Then one classmate stood up and said his favourite cartoon is Tom and Jerry. I thought: Am I brave enough to show my childish hobby?Perhaps not. I want my classmates to see me as a grown﹣up,not a silly kid. But then I realized that I don't find that classmate silly. Recently, China’s Ministry of Education has asked all public schools to teach students first aid especially CPR (心肺复苏术) as part of children’s health education.
There are as many as 550,000 sudden cardiac deaths (心源性猝死) in China every year. About 60 percent of these deaths happen outside hospitals and the survival rate (存活率) of a patient who received the CPR outside hospital is less than 4.5 percent in China, compared with about 47.5 percent in developed countries.
In November 2019, 35-year-old Taiwan model-actor Godfrey Gao died after he suddenly fell while filming a reality show. He was rushed to the hospital and died from sudden cardiac arrest (心脏骤停) after being rescued (抢救) for nearly three hours. His death aroused a heated discussion.
Sudden cardiac death is increasing year by year because of many reasons. CPR is one of the first and most effective methods of treating cardiac arrest, according to medical experts. Most patients will begin to develop brain damage within four to six minutes after cardiac arrest, and then biological death within a few minutes. However, in China, besides medical workers, the number of people who have received first aid training is only about one percent of the public.
As early as 1966, the US has advised the public to receive CPR training, including police officers, drivers, firefighters, teachers and students of colleges and secondary schools. In Europe, Switzerland requires all citizens(公民) to be trained in first aid, including CPR. And in Germany, every citizen must be trained before getting their driver’s license, which means some 80 percent of the country has received first aid training. Forty percent of people in France are also trained in first aid.
According to Guo Malong, a doctor in Henan, a CPR lesson can be completed in anything from 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on what’s included. Basic first aid lessons can be completed in just 30 minutes, which don’t take students too much time, but will make a huge difference to others.
7. How many sudden cardiac deaths happen outside hospital in China every year
A. About 24, 750. B. About 261, 250. C. About 330,000. D. About 550,000.
8. The author mentions Godfrey Gao to show____________.
A. how important learning CPR is B. how popular Godfrey Gao is
C. all age groups may die from cardiac arrest D. all kinds of people may have cardiac arrest
9. Which of the following is TRUE
A. 50% of the French have had first aid training.
B. In Germany, every driver is trained in first aid.
C. All students must receive CPR training in the US.
D. People in Switzerland don’t have to receive CPR training.
10. What do Guo Malong’s words mean in the last paragraph
A. It’s easy and possible to teach CPR in school.
B. Basic first aid lessons will take too much time.
C. It’s important to teach students first aid skills.
D. Every student should know different first aid skills.

For many Chinese people, Lantern Festival, which fell on Feb.15,2022, marks an end to two weeks of the Lunar(农历) New Year. For folk artist Wang De, it is also the busiest, best time for him to show his craft(手艺) creating molten(熔化的) iron fireworks.
Wang, who is a blacksmith(铁匠) of the 500-year-old art of dashuhua, which means“creating tree flowers”, lives in Yuxian County in the city of Zhangjiakou, North China’ s Hebei Province.
To create molten iron fireworks, scrap iron(铁屑) is melted to 1,600℃ and thrown against a cold wall to blinding effect.
Wang, 58, and his assistants put on over a dozen dashuhua shows for local people and tourists as part of the Spring Festival activities each year. The folk artist hopes the tradition can bring more visitors to his hometown of Zhangjiakou, which caught international attention.
Dashuhua is a traditional form of fireworks show that takes place during certain festivals. In ancient times, this was a show that only those people with wealth and high social positions could afford. There are only four people left in China who have mastered(掌握) the ancient practice, and three of them are not young, according to local media(媒体) reports.
Because of the high temperature of scrap iron, it's easy for dashuhua artists to get hurt when they are giving shows. And the high-risk tradition is still only kept for the brave. During a show a few years ago, Wang got serious burns on his leg and it took two months to recover(恢复).
Both Wang's father and grandfather were blacksmiths. “I learned the craft from my father. When I was young, I thought it was exciting. But years later I also felt it was my duty(责任) to pass it down to the next generation(代),” he says.
What does dashuhua mean
During which festival do Wang and his assistants give dashuhua shows every year
Who could afford dashuhua shows in ancient times
Are dashuhua shows very dangerous Why
How do you think Wang will pass his craft down to the next generation from the last paragraph

Nowadays, there are so many detectives in fiction that detective stories are considered their own genre(类型). Where did this genre come from Most people think detective stories were created by US writer Edgar Allan Poe. His detective was named C. Auguste Dupin, and first appeared in 1841.
Poe created Dupin before anyone heard the word “detective”, says the website Novel Suspects.

3. . He enters the mind of the criminal and then tries to think the same way as the criminal. Take The Purloined Letter as an example, which is about finding a letter that is hidden by a minister(大臣). Dupin places himself in the mind of the minister and realizes that the minister would have hidden the letter in the most obvious(明显的) place.
Another thing also makes Dupin famous. 4. . For example, in one story, Dupin helps a man for free who was charged with a crime he hadn't done. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why he is such a popular character.
A. He was influenced by Poe.
