Dear Mr. Brown,
I hope this email finds you well. I'm a ninth-grader of our school. Next month, I'll run for the English announcer of our radio station.
I think being an announcer can help improve my English. And I want to share something useful about English with other students. But while preparing for my speech, I realize my pronunciation needs improving. That's why I'm writing to you. I would like to thank you for correcting my pronunciation and giving me some advice on pronunciation. I'm wondering whether it will be OK if I visit you in the English club at 4:30 this Friday afternoon.

For the students with worse grades, the number of the questions they got right was smaller than what they expected. At the same time, for those with higher scores, the number of questions they thought they got right was smaller than the real number.

B.完成表格。阅读下面短文,根据其内容,完成表格中所缺的信息。
After speaking to many foreigners, you might think that no question could be
more impolite than “How old are you ”
Yes, asking about a person’s age will possibly get you into trouble, especially if
you ask a woman. However, money is just as difficult to ask about as age.
In Western countries, a person’s salary is his own business like his age. The US expert Thomas P. Farley explained why. “Who we are to others is mostly up to how much we make,” he told Forbes magazine. “In America, much of the respect(尊重) we get from others is tied to the amount of money we make. So people don’t want to
talk about it.”
But maybe you are feeling brave and still want to try to find out how much your
foreign friend makes. How can you ask the question wisely
Do not ask, “How much money do you make ” The most possible reply will be, “That’s none of your business.” You may then feel bad. Without knowing, you will
have made a big cultural mistake. Get over it and try again another time.
Ask the person, “What do you do for a living ” or “What’s your job title ” Most people will be happy to give you an answer. After they tell you their job title, you can guess their salary according to the average(平均的) salary for someone taking up that
job.
Once you learn their job title, you could say, “That’s interesting. I’m thinking about finding a job like that. Can you give me an idea of what the pay is like ” You have more possibility of getting information with a question like this than with a straight question. Of course, there are people not wanting to answer the question but to reply by saying, “Oh, I get by.” Some might jokingly reply, “Much less than enough.” At this point, it’s best to change the subject. After all, money isn’t
everything.
