Clark's nutcracker,a bird found in North America, is a memory super-star. Every fall, it collects and buries tens of thousands of pine seeds(松子)to eat during winter. But how does it remember where all those seeds are hidden Scientists wanted to understand just how good its memory is and how it compares to other animals.
Researchers studied Clark's nutcracker in the wild and in labs. They
watched the bird bury seeds and then tested its ability to find them weeks or even months later. The team also compared the nutcracker’ s memory to other animals, like squirrels(松鼠) and chimpanzees(黑猩猩), by setting up similar memory tests. They examined how many seeds the birds could find and how quickly it did it.
The study found that Clark's nutcracker can remember the locations of up to 20,000 seed caches(隐藏物)! It find about 90% of its hidden seeds, even after six months. However, squirrels only remember about 60-70% of their buried nuts, and chimpanzees, known for their being clever, have diffi-culty with similar tasks. The nutcracker’ s brain, especially the part called the hippocampus (which handles memory), is much larger relative to its body size than in most other birds.
This research shows that Clark's nutcracker has one of the best memories in the animal kingdom—— better than many mammals! Scientists think this good memory developed because the bird depends on hidden seeds to live through difficult winters. Some researchers believe studying the nutcracker’ s brain could help us understand human memory better. Others say it's a great example of how animals adapt to(适应) their environment in amazing ways.

Have you ever seen a bright light moving across the sky on a dark, starry night If so, maybe you were seeing a rock from outer space falling through the earth's atmosphere(大气层)!
36 Both small and huge rocks circle around the sun in their billions. Every single day, as the earth travels around the sun, it moves through millions of these rocks, or meteoroids as they are called.
When meteoroids enter the earth's atmosphere, they fall through the air

Every single day, millions of meteors appear in the earth's atmosphere. 37 They are one of the most exciting views in the night sky, especially when hundreds of them appear seconds or minutes apart.
When many meteors occur together, it's called a meteor shower. 38 Look on any astronomy (天文学) website and you will know when the next meteor shower is taking place. To better enjoy a meteor shower, drive to a dark place well away from any city lights. 39
Almost every meteoroid that enters the earth's atmosphere is tiny—— just a millimetre or so in size. 40 Small meteoroids burn up in the air and never reach the ground. Larger ones, bigger than an egg, can survive and land on the earth. When a meteoroid lands, it is called a meteorite.

Short Videos: Fun or Harmful
Short videos are very popular with teenagers today. They offer quick entertainment and can help us learn new skills. However, there are also concerns about that they can lead to wasting time and even addiction.
I have noticed that many of my friends enjoy watching short videos to relax and laugh. Some even learn new recipes or dance moves. But I have
also seen them spend hours on their phones, which can lead to addiction and get in the way of their studies.
To use short videos wisely, I suggest setting a viewing limit each day and choosing high-quality content that inspires creativity. By doing this, we can enjoy the fun while avoiding the negative effects of addiction.
