(2023·北京·石景山·初一上期末)One day, on the way home from school, my mom told me she was going
to make up some new rules for me and my brothers and sisters. Before this, we knew she wanted us to be good, but
we really didn’t have any rules. Well, Mom took care of that. On Sunday, she started giving us some rules.
Clean your rooms every other day. Be ready for dinner at 7:00 p.m. That means sitting at the table, with clean
hands. If Mom is having a meeting in the house, be very quiet. That means turning down the music and the TV. Be
ready for bed at 9:30 p.m. and get up at 7:30 a.m. to get ready for school. Take out the rubbish on Monday morning
before school. Clean the bathroom on Thursday.
Following these rules isn’t too hard, and sometimes it’s even fun. Other times, it can be tough. For example, if
your room is really dirty and you can’t finish cleaning it on that day, you have to finish it on the next day, along
with anything else you have to do. That isn’t easy.
Mom made these rules because she loves us a lot. She wants us to learn how to be on time, be clean and neat,
and be polite. Every day, we try to follow her rules.

(2023·北京·石景山·初一上期末)Do you have a favorite place to go—a place with family, good weather,
and fun things to do like crabbing (抓螃蟹) I’m glad I do. New Jersey is my favorite place for many reasons.
The first reason is my family. Over half of my family lives in New Jersey. When I visit, my cousins and I
laugh and play all day and night. My uncles and aunts take me to the boardwalk where we ride roller coasters (过山
车). We try juicy apples and foot-long hot dogs. My family is fun to be with.
The second reason for New Jersey being my favorite place is the weather. Instead of being hot, it’s always cool.
When I think about my visits, I can just feel the cool autumn wind in my hair. I can just see the white, soft winter
snow. I can just hear the soft spring rain splashing on the sidewalks. I can just feel the warm summer sun on my
face. The weather is great!
The third reason for New Jersey being my favorite place is crabbing. If it’s crab season, we crab. We keep the

blue crabs and the snow crabs, and we let the others go. Sometimes we catch crabs on hooks (钩子), and sometimes
we lower crab cages (笼子) into the water. Then we pull them out later. One time my brother caught a crab so big
that it got stuck in the crab cage! The crab finally got out, but it hurt one of its legs and broke the cage. Poor crab!
For all these reasons, New Jersey is my favorite place to go. If you don’t have a favorite place, I think you
should search for one. It’s good to visit a favorite place—a place where you can make special memories.

(2023·北京·昌平·初一上期末)People find that babies as young as 18 months can help with housework.
When parents say to those babies, “Just look at the paper,” they will pick it up.
Some parents think childhood is just for playing, so they don’t ask their children to do housework. Some
parents think that their children get much schoolwork every day, and they are too busy for housework. Some
parents say, “I know it’s wrong, but it’s quicker to do it by myself!” Other parents believe that doing housework is a
way of teaching kids responsibility (责任) . Children learn to help, share and care about others by doing
housework.
Most experts (专家) think that there are some reasons for doing housework:
★To learn responsibility: Children who do more housework are always ready to help others.
★To share the work together: Kids who help to clean won’t make a big mess in a family.
★To learn skills: Kids will learn how to cook, clean and do other things in the house.
第 2页/共 9页
Experts also think that the housework should fit(适合) the child. A five-year-old child for example, may not
take dish-washing. However, this age child could pick up toys and try to keep the home tidy. As the child ages, he
or she can get more housework, like washing dishes, walking the dog, or doing some easy cooking.
If the child has much schoolwork after school, the time for housework may be really short. So, parents should
think over how much homework a child already has, and plan housework carefully. Be sure of more housework on
the weekend but not on weekdays. And some families also find a good solution: doing some easy housework
together each night, for example, putting away toys and doing some cleaning after meals. It saves time and gets
everyone to make a cleaner family.
Doing housework is a good way for growing a better child and better parents. Parents should be a model for
their children. Some young children are happy to do housework because when they are doing what mom or dad
does, they feel more grown up. So, let’s do housework together with family members.
8.What is paragraph 2 mainly talking about
A.Different children do different housework at home.
B.Some parents think children should do housework.
C.Some parents think there is no need to do housework.
D.Different parents have different ideas about housework.
9.The underlined word “solution” in paragraph 5 probably means “________”.
A.the help from others B.a need for difficult work
C.a way to answer the question D.the time for doing something
10.What can parents do when children have much schoolwork
A.Parents can let children do housework first.
B.Parents can finish housework by themselves.
C.Parents can ask kids to do all housework on weekends.
D.Parents can plan and do easy housework with children.
11.Why does the writer write this passage
A.To show ways to get children grow better at home.
B.To get parents and children to do housework together.
C.To tell parents to give children more school homework.
D.To ask children to show parents with good school work.

(2023·北京·东城·北京二中·初一上期末)In April 1961, Yuri Gagarin became the first man to travel in
space. On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the Moon. Some people believe the next
step is for humans to visit Mars. It is sure that the first person to walk on Mars will become as Gagarin or
Armstrong, and many astronauts would love the chance. But what is space travel really like for the astronauts
Many astronauts suffer (承受 ) physical problems, even if they are in space for just a few months. Some of
these problems are short-lived; others may be long-lasting. More than two-thirds of all astronauts suffer motion
sickness (晕动病 ) while traveling in space. In space, the body cannot tell up from down and that can make the
astronauts feel sick for a few days. More blood and water end up in the face, neck, and chest, resulting in a puff (肿
胀) face and an enlarged heart. Being in a weightless environment (失重环境) means that astronauts do not use the
muscles (肌 肉) so their muscles gradually get weaker. This, along with the change of blood to the upper body,
astronauts lose some of important minerals (矿物质 ), and then their bones become weaker. As a result, many
astronauts can’t walk well for a few days upon their return to Earth. In addition, they have to suffer the radiation
第 4页/共 9页
(辐射) from the sun. This puts them at a higher risk of serious illness.
Besides the physical difficulties, astronauts who travel for long time may also suffer from psychological stress
(压力). Long journeys need astronauts to spend more time inside a spaceship. For example, a round-trip journey to
Mars could take about three years. Staying in a small space for such a long period of time is not healthy.
Astronauts—especially those who achieved important “firsts” such as Gagarin and Armstrong—are often seen
as exciting adventurers. This may be right, but it’s also worth (值得) remembering the efforts they make to explore
our universe.
15.According to Paragraph 2, what physical problem do astronauts suffer
A.They may feel sick because of motion sickness.
B.Their hearts send weakened signals to their bodies.
C.They may live shorter after travelling in space.
D.Their brains often get less blood and water.
16.What can cause astronauts’ bones to become weaker
A.Less proper walks upon their return to Earth.
B.Weaker muscles and loss of important minerals.
C.More radiation from the sun hurting the bones.
D.Puffy faces, necks and enlarged hearts and brains.
17.What is the writer’s main purpose in writing this passage
A.To encourage people to be first one to visit Mars.
B.To question whether humans are able to go to Mars soon.
C.To remind us of the price astronauts pay for exploring universe.
D.To discuss what is the best health care for astronauts in space.
(2023·北京·西城·初一上期末)My family love health and fitness, so running has always been quite an
important part of our lives. But my feelings about running seem to change more often than I would like them to. I
go through times of really not enjoying it, followed by times of loving it so much.
I started running when I was just a little girl. Both of my parents ran and they encouraged (鼓励) me to join
them from an early age. I started by doing short jogs (慢跑 ) around my neighborhood, just a ten-minute run or
something like that.
When I was at high school, I would wake up at 6 am and go for a twenty-minute run through the park near my
house. The runs became longer because I became more confident (自信的). Then I would try to go on longer runs
or even run faster.
Before I went away to university, I joined a gym near my house with my parents and from then on I liked to
use the bike or exercises with weights rather than (而不是) running. After two years of going to the gym, I wanted
to take up running again because it was cheaper.
I ran in the mornings again, before work. I enjoyed doing that because it meant that I got my daily exercise
done early and had the rest of the day to do what I wanted to do. Another good thing about running at that time was
that there weren’t many people around to see me looking like a tomato!
第 5页/共 9页
Now my love for running is at an all-time high. Last year I took part in my first Race for Life, a run to raise
money to help fight cancer (抗癌). And I was able to finish in the top ten, out of thousands of women and girls.
Since then, my love for the sport has grown stronger. Hopefully from now on our connection will be only positive
(积极的), rather than falling in and out of love.
